Brilliantly colored painting of a plate of fruit (with one stray cherry) in an equally lovely, but earlier, grainpainted frame. The brackets on the stretchers bare the patent date of 1885. There is a single scratch to the paint above and to the left of the grapes–it is to the paint and gesso only and does not cut through the canvas. Some in-painting to the frame on both the bottom and right moldings near the bottom right corner. This frame has obviously been repurposed as it has a hole on the outside edge of the left molding, presumably for a bale hanger.
Frame measures 12-1/2 inches high and 16-1/2 inches wide.
Painting measures 10-1/2 inches high and 14-1/4 inches wide.
